The Bayelsa State Nursing and Midwifery Committee is a statutory organ charged to perform specific functions on behalf of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria as stipulated in the Nursing and Midwifery registration, etc Act Cap N143,2004, section 13, 14 and 16.
They are the vehicle for ensuring excellence in nursing education and practice in the Bayelsa state and in Nigeria in general.
FUNCTIONS OF THE COMMITTEE
Pre-accreditation visit for the establishment of new training institutions.
Periodic inspections of training institutions and student’s clinical experience sites.
Monitor appropriately the standards of nursing practice in the states.
Keep and update the record of all trained nurses in the state.
Compile and maintain a list of public, private hospitals and clinics for effective monitoring
Conduct Research on current nursing issues.
Facilitate the organization of Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme (MCPDP) for nurses
